Thefts from vehicles continue to plague village

Buffalo Grove Police are investigating eight thefts from vehicles which, according to police reports, occurred in the past week.

According to reports, in each case vehicles were left unlocked and valuables, including car keys, wallets and cash, were left in the vehicle.  In one case, the vehicle was stolen, but was located in the  8800 block of south Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

In a statement issued through a village news release, Police Chief Steven Casstevens urged residents to be proactive in preventing thefts from vehicles. "We cannot stress enough, the importance of simply locking your vehicle," Casstevens said." Locking your doors is the most effective deterrent. Police are also investigating thefts from garages that were left open and unattended.
